Samsung Galaxy S23 FE may feature Exynos 2200 SoC, will release in the end of this year

Samsung is reportedly planning to launch the Galaxy S23 FE later this year, following the release of the Galaxy S23 lineup, which includes a base, a pro, and an ultra model. While there were earlier reports indicating that Samsung might skip the Galaxy S23 Fan Edition, a recent report from SamMobile suggests that the Galaxy S23 FE will indeed be launched in the fourth quarter of this year. Though a previous source claimed to launch on Q2 of this year.

Galaxy S23 FE expected specifications

One interesting thing to note is that the Galaxy S23 FE is rumored to be powered by the Exynos 2200 SoC, unlike the other Galaxy S23 models. This could be a significant departure for Samsung, as the Exynos processors have historically been less popular than their Snapdragon counterparts. However, if the Exynos 2200 SoC proves to be powerful and efficient, it could be a game changer for Samsung’s mid-range offerings.

In addition to the processor, the Galaxy S23 FE is rumored to come with a 50-megapixel primary camera and RAM options of 6GB and 8GB, along with storage choices of 128GB and 256GB. The phone is also expected to add a 4,500 mAh battery with 25W fast charging support, similar to its predecessors.

It is worth noting that Samsung skipped the Galaxy S22 FE to allocate enough chips for the production of the Galaxy S22 Ultra, due to the chip shortage caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the company appears to be proceeding with the Galaxy S23 FE release despite the ongoing supply chain challenges. This could be a risky move for Samsung, as the global chip shortage is expected to continue well into 2022, which could impact the availability and pricing of the Galaxy S23 FE.

Overall, the Galaxy S23 FE could be an interesting addition to Samsung’s mid-range lineup, particularly if it is powered by the Exynos 2200 SoC. However, with ongoing supply chain challenges and  compete in the mid-range smartphone market, it remains to be seen how well it will perform in the market.
