Huawei, the tech giant from China has decreased the production of Mate 60 series to accelerate AI chip production, which is very needy in this present situation. The AI chip Ascend 910B production has increased Huawei by allowing a factory to process this chip instead of Kirin chip which used on Mate 60 series.
Source from Reuters, demand of AI chip production in China, domestically increased in a large number. That’s why Huawei cancelled Kirin production. This company had faced several obstacles after the 2019 sanction given by the US government. After that time they can’t produce chips from foundries situated in the US.
The South China Morning Post says that Mate 60 series was competing the Apple’s smartphone selling in China. But Huawei feels the importance of AI chip production for further research use and you might not be shocked by hearing that China is growing fast in using AI system in their education system, widely.
After the restrictions by the US government, NVIDIA produced the H100 chip that could not be reached in China. So, China has to depend on the domestic AI chip. Huawei understands the potential market of AI chip production in China. So they are taking a step towards the adaptation of technology.
