Huawei has recently made significant strides in its smartphone offerings, with the introduction of the Huawei Mate X5 foldable phone and the flagship Mate 60 series.
These releases mark Huawei’s entry into the 5G-enabled smartphone market following the challenging US sanctions.
Looking forward, Huawei has ambitious plans to diversify its 5G smartphone lineup, targeting various price points. Among the anticipated releases is the Nova 12 series, which is rumored to feature a new Kirin chip.
Nova 12 series with Kirin chip
The Nova 11 series, unveiled earlier this year, encompassed a range of models such as the Nova 11i, Nova 11, Nova 11 Pro, and Nova 11 Ultra. Notably, the Nova 11i employed the Snapdragon 680 4G chip, while the other models utilized the Snapdragon 778G 4G chip.
Huawei may be gearing up to transition to its in-house Kirin chips for the upcoming Nova 12 series. Huawei already used Kirin chip on Mate 60 Pro model.
Inside sources suggest that the Nova 12 series could be powered by the Kirin 830 chipset, described as a variant of the Kirin 9000s chip with a reduced core count.
Maintaining a pricing strategy akin to the Nova 11 series, the Nova 12 lineup is expected to inherit some of the distinctive features showcased in the flagship Mate 60 series.
However, specific details about the Nova 12 specifications remain under wraps for now.
In addition to the Nova 12 series, Huawei’s product roadmap might include the unveiling of new MatePad tablets and a clamshell-style Pocket-series smartphone, all of which are likely to incorporate Huawei’s proprietary Kirin chipsets.
These moves reflect Huawei’s determination to continue innovating and offering competitive products despite the challenges it has faced in the global smartphone market.
