Apple’s AR/VR Headset Nearing Production: Launch Expected Late 2023

In an exciting development for technology enthusiasts, Apple’s long-awaited augmented reality/virtual reality (AR/VR) headset is preparing to enter mass production, with an anticipated launch date in late 2023. The news comes from investment firm Morgan Stanley, adding fuel to the speculation surrounding Apple’s foray into the world of immersive experiences.

Although initial expectations pointed towards an unveiling at the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), insider information suggests that actual production won’t commence until October this year. However, eager consumers need not worry, as the headset is likely to hit the shelves just in time for the December holiday season.

Erik Woodring, an Apple analyst at Morgan Stanley, revealed in a recently obtained research note, “While we expect Apple’s AR/VR headset to be unveiled next week, our supply chain checks suggest mass production won’t start until October ’23, with general availability most likely ahead of the December holidays.”

According to Woodring, Apple’s supply chain is currently gearing up to assemble a modest quantity of 300,000 to 500,000 headsets in 2023. The price point of the highly anticipated device is expected to start at approximately $3,000, aligning with previous rumors. However, the analyst also anticipates that Apple’s gross margins will be initially “close to breakeven,” suggesting a strategic decision to prioritize market penetration over immediate profitability.

In addition to the AR/VR headset, there are whispers that Apple may unveil a new MacBook Air during the WWDC keynote. Although the authenticity of this information remains unconfirmed, the potential announcement has added to the excitement surrounding the event.

Apple’s highly anticipated keynote is scheduled for Monday, June 5, at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. With the imminent unveiling of the AR/VR headset and the possibility of other surprises, both Apple enthusiasts and developers are eagerly awaiting the company’s latest innovations. The launch of Apple’s AR/VR headset promises to mark a significant milestone in the realm of immersive technology and has the potential to redefine the way we experience digital content.
