Tata Group finally acquired Wistron India and will pay $125 million for the 100% equity stake for the company assembly line. The deal was successful on October 27. It is worth a total of $750 million including the $550 million inter-corporate loan.

Tata Group as first Indian iPhone manufacturer
Chinese companies like Foxconn, Pegatron, and Luxshare, who are Apple’s partners, have been responsible for the production of iPhones in India. Nevertheless, Tata has now become the first Indian company to take on the task to be the iPhone manufacturer.

The agreement encompasses a sprawling 44-acre (approximately 180,000 sq. m) establishment housing eight production lines in close proximity to Bengaluru. This site served as a pivotal location for the assembly of both the iPhone 12 and iPhone 14 devices, and it is anticipated that Tata will assume a substantial role in providing iPhone production within the Asian nation.

According to Apple Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Tata Electronics along with Foxconn, Pegatron are expected to launch their inside India manufacturing process by iPhone 17 series. Which will be released in 2025. This manufacturing process will diversify the iPhone’s supply chain.
Tata Group, the biggest conglomerate in India, consists of 29 companies in its portfolio. The manufacturing of iPhones will be done by Tata Electronics, a division operating under the same team as the one responsible for manufacturing iPhone SE casings. This facility is located in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.
Additionally, there is rumor to equip bezel-less display to introduce in iPhone models. Although it has no actual confirmation but can’t be neglected.
