The Dimensity 9300 is running hot due to MediaTek’s unconventional choice of ARM core distribution,-
opting for only fast and very fast cores (four each of Cortex-A720 and Cortex-X4) without slower cores typically used to manage power and heat during lighter tasks.
This design is causing concerns among phone manufacturers as it may lead to overheating issues and difficulties in achieving promised performance within acceptable thermal limits.
MediaTek faces the dilemma of either reducing the chip’s speed significantly to meet thermal requirements, potentially undermining its performance, or convincing customers to adopt their more conventional solutions, which are less exciting but reliable.
In the worst case, they may risk losing customers altogether, leading to production delays and dissatisfaction all around.
